The Gold Standard diagnostic method is microscopy but is a time consuming method requiring skilled medical experts. Due to shortage in medical personnel and the large amount of malaria patients, most African hospitals cannot offer proper diagnosis to all patients. Authorities are looking for new diagnostic methods that are both affordable and reliable in order to increase diagnostic quality and accessibility throughout Africa.

AidxMedical’s product is an automated microscope that combines an optical system with smart algorithms in order to automatically detect malaria parasites in blood samples. The product is low-cost, easy-to-use and field compatible (portable and robust). Performing up to 10 times faster than manual microscopy, this product will be able to significantly increase diagnostic capacity of African health facilities.
